Dreams of being in film in Palm Beach County Florida

Being a part of the film industry has always been a dream. As I grew older, I was able to grow my skills to make this dream into a reality.  Now I as I look into my future I have created new goals for this industry and myself.  For my future I want to have my own production company working with people in my area. In order to achieve this goal I need to find the resources that I can utilize. One important resource is tax credits and incentives. Another important step is to start finding those who are in this field in my area and connect and network with them.
In 2011 Florida but into effect an incentive for those wanting to produce films in Florida.  This is a tax credit between 20%-30% for your project. There are many things one can claim to be a total fit for this incentive. If your film is an “off season”, “Family friendly” and/ or the filmmaker is a “film student/ recent graduate” there are bonuses that you can claim. This gives the filmmaker an incentive to make their film dream into a reality. This would be an advantage for independent filmmakers in Florida to gain funds to make their films.
The Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission is an association that I as a Palm Beach filmmaker would become familiar with. I would start networking here because they have a lot of resources for filmmakers. They have access to production resources, locations database, and permit inquiry. Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission also keeps a calendar of local film festivals where one can showcase their work. Networking would begin by contacting them and begin meeting the people in the commission. With the incentive and the Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission I believe I will be stepping in the right direction to achieving my lifetime goals.

  1. Krysta,

I have always dreamed about being a part of the Entertainment Industry; however, it took me a little while to figure it out. After I graduated high school I was originally going to become a person whom writes music for movies; however, after living a little I found that I loved working with artists and helping them succeed. It took me a few years; however, after seven, like you, I was able to make my dream become a reality. I am getting my masters from Full Sail in order to have the “paper credentials” to back up my current experience. The best advice I can give you for achieving your ultimate goal of having your own production company is to network, network, network. No matter what you do work with as many people as you can from now on. It will prove beneficial to you in the future when you need someone and you have a network of people to rely on instead of just yourself. Networking has its benefits and as I can see, you are already on the right track. Working with the Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission will allow you to gain a lot of resources and will also help you grow your business in the future. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you have a successful business in the future.
